Sandra started dancing at the age of three and taught her first dance class at the age of sixteen. She has been a dance educator for 25+ years. She attended The Cultural Arts Center, now known as Long Island High School for the Arts, as a dance major trained in various styles of dance, including Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Lyrical, and Tap. Sandra studied with and was mentored by Jan Haniford Goetz (Joffrey Ballet), Bunty Kelley (Royal Ballet), and Tyrone Aiken (Chief Artistic Officer Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey) and Janice Aquilera.
After high school, Sandra went on to study at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During that time, she studied under Ronen (Roni) Koresh and began dancing with the Koresh Dance Company. Sandra then went to Long Island University, where she received her Masters Degree in Science for Occupational Therapy. She is a registered and licensed Occupational Therapist.
Sandra has taught and choreographed for various studios and school districts where she is continually recognized and awarded for her entertaining choreography. Last year, her soloist won 1st place overall in regional division of competition for Power of Dance and 1st place with the high overall score at Dance Xplosion. At Nationals, the soloist received 1st Place overall and won National Miss Power of Dance. This year at regionals, her soloists received several Top 10 and Top 5 awards, 2nd Place overall, 3rd Place overall, Judge’s Award, and Miss Power of Dance.
Sandra loves sharing her passion and knowledge of dance and is excited to be a part of Elegant Dance Studio.
